Camp Narnia F.A.Q.s

Want to know more about Camp Narnia?  A Parent Information handbook will be made available on our site soon but in the meantime here are the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions...

Is Camp Narnia an overnight camp?

Yes!  Our camp sessions run from Sunday to Saturday.  Check-in time is between 2:00 and 4:00 on Sundays and check-out is between 12:00 and 2:00 on Saturdays.

What are camper:counsellor ratios?

There are usually between 6 and 7 campers per counsellor.  Our wagons sleep 8.  Wagon groups are not co-ed however cabins do do some of our activities together in larger groups.  In addition to our counsellors we have Leaders In Progress (17-18 yr. olds), program staff and kitchen staff.

Is Camp Narnia a religious camp?

No, we are not although our philosophy is centered in part around the values of respect, responsibility, loyalty, joy and compassion found in the Chronicles of Narnia. We are a private, independent camp and welcome campers of all faiths and backgrounds.

What part do the Chronicles of Narnia play in Camp Narnia's programs?

Places at Camp are given Narnian names including our cabins, or in the case of our Seven Springs location this year, our wagons.  Many of our activities are taught through a Narnian story and each week is centered around a specific Narnian book; this summer the theme for both our weeks is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. We preform that book as an all-camp play on Thursday nights.

What sort of water-based activities do you have?

This summer we will be making trips up to Englishman River which we can get to by foot from Camp.  We are also planning an afternoon trip to Rathtrevor Beach and will be getting there via bus.   We also have a small lake on the property where campers can go kayaking (these are open kayaks without a cockpit) under the supervision of our lifeguard.

Can Camp Narnia accommodate special diets?

We can accommodate special diets such as gluten or dairy free.  If children have special snacks that they enjoy and are used to parents are welcome to provide us with those but we will have made sure the kitchen is stocked with gluten-free flours, noodles etc... and dairy alternatives if we know they are needed.  We can also accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets and allergies to foods such as nuts.  Please make sure you provide details on the medical form (which you will be sent after registration) and email us should you have any questions.

What if my child needs medication while they are at camp?

Whether your child needs to continue taking a course of antibiotics, has vitamins you would like them to continue taking or has some other form of necessary medication we can accommodate this at camp.  Medications are labelled when campers arrive and times to be given also listed.  All medications are kept in a locked area and children are brought to the Main building by their counsellors when they are needed.
